Upon arrival, check their name and provide them with their unique code to write in their planner for later.
Open with a game of your choice from the Icebreaker Booklet.
After the game, settle the group.
Ask: “Why do you think we’re here today?”
Introduce the workshop's aim to the group. This workshop is about feedback and aims to:
Part 1: Ambassador Journey Feedback | 15 mins
Pose the question: “What went well this year?”.
Say: “Let’s take some time to think about all the good things that have happened
This could be from memorable activities, the people you met, anything that comes to mind.”
Allow them some time to think, then have them add their thoughts to a Post-It Note and stick it on the flip chart paper.
If time, check the Post-It Notes and ask for clarity on anything that is unclear or allow the young people to share their thoughts on what went well
Ask the next question: “What would have made this year even better?”
Let them think about what we, as Bertha Earth, could have done to make the programme more enjoyable/interesting. We might not be able to fix it for them, but we can make adjustments for the future. (Remind them about the concepts of Ubuntu and Web of Life.) They can list all the things they didn’t like and/or anything we could do to improve.
Allow them some time to think, then have them add their thoughts to a Post-It Note and stick it on the flip chart paper.
If time permits, check the Post-It Notes and ask for clarification on anything unclear, or allow the young people to share their thoughts on what went well.
If time permits, run a playful/creative review session (approximately 30 mins). Ask the young people to show their journey through the programme and what they have gained in the format of:
A body map (outline of a body) with words of things they have gained on the inside.
A journey map showing their start and end and ups and downs along the way. This could be a line map, treasure map, pictorial map.
A photo session. Ask the Ambassadors to add Post-it Notes to the photographs taken during their programme to say what was hard and easy and why, and what was the best and worst and why.
A written piece entitled, “My Journey Through the Programme”
A collage depicting their journey through the programme.
Part 2: Survey Completion | 15 mins
Use this link: https://berthaearth.knack.com/hive#survey/ or this shorter link: https://bit.ly/Berthasurvey.
Provide young people with their own unique code, which the teacher can access, or these can be found here: https://berthaearth.knack.com/hive#young-people/
On a Post-It Note, ask them to respond to the following question: “Is there anything you will do differently now?”
Collect these to be logged.
Celebrate them for being present and taking part. It’s not easy to think all the way back to the beginning of the programme.
Next steps: Let them know we’re holding these feedback workshops across different schools and will use everything they shared to make next year even better.
