Story Capturing Opportunities
Make sure to capture:
Short videos of as many Ambassadors as possible presenting their Project Planet Love
Photos of as many projects as you can. This helps to provide example Project Planet Loves for next year’s Ambassadors and showcases the concept of Ubuntu
Facilitator Note: This structure is for a two-hour Celebration event where parents, carers and school staff can join after school. If your Celebration plans differ from these, please modify accordingly.
Welcome the Ambassadors and explain that today is their opportunity to celebrate, shine, and share their Project Planet Love.
Invite each Project Planet Love team to set up its project stall or display. When done, let them explore other team members' project stands. Guide and/or support them in setting up their stand in a way which best showcases their project.
Ask: “Do you know what you plan to share with the visitors to your stall?”
Share the pointers below and give them time to think about their answers.
What they have created
Photographs or videos
Posters or artwork
Campaign materials
Research
Objects that they have made
Evidence of the actions they undertook
Plans for what they would like to do next.
Once set up, encourage teams to partner up with other teams and practise explaining their project to each other.
Encourage Ambassadors to use the following sentence starters (or adapt to something similar) when explaining their stall and their story:
We cared about...
So we decided to...
We took action by...
We discovered...
We're proud of...
Next, we'd love to...
Facilitator Note:
Projects will be at different stages, and that is OK. They can present their idea and, what they were planning to on doing. The Celebration is not about who created the biggest or most polished project. Help Ambassadors celebrate what they cared about, the action they took and what they learned along the way. If Ambassadors are performing, use this time for a brief rehearsal or sound check.
Welcome parents, carers, school staff, and other invited guests as they arrive.
Allow guests to settle and begin looking around the space.
Give a brief 2–3 minute welcome.
Include:
What the Ambassador Programme is
What Project Planet Love is
How the Celebration will work
How to navigate the space
Any important safety information, such as where the nearest toilets and emergency exits are (check with the School-Based Facilitator beforehand).
Invite guests to explore the different Project Planet Love projects.
This is the Ambassadors' opportunity to:
Share what they care about
Explain their project
Show what they created or did
Talk about the action they took
Answer questions
Share what they discovered
Discuss what they might do next
Encourage guests to talk with the Ambassadors, rather than simply looking at their displays.
Display a few prompts around the room:
What inspired your project?
What action did you take?
What are you most proud of?
What surprised you?
What would you like to happen next?
Facilitator Note: If Ambassadors have created a performance as part of their Project Planet Love, include this within the 30-minute Showcase.
Make sure performance timings are agreed in advance so the Showcase does not run over.
Gather everyone back together.
Congratulate the Ambassadors and briefly reflect on the journey they have taken.
You might celebrate:
Their curiosity
Their ideas
Their courage
Their creativity
Their teamwork
Their care for one another
Their care for the planet
Their willingness to take action
Say: “Project Planet Love isn't about changing the whole world; First, it’s about loving it. Then. it's about discovering something you care about, and then realising and recognising that you can do something about it.”
Present each Ambassador with their certificate.
Where possible, make this feel personal and celebratory.
Watch the programme montage together.
Invite the Ambassadors and guests to enjoy seeing the journey from the beginning of the programme through to Project Planet Love.
Thank the Ambassadors, families, school community, and everyone who has supported the programme.
Share something lovely with the Ambassadors:
“You noticed.”
“You cared.”
“You found something that mattered to you.”
“You worked with others.”
“And you took action.”
Say: “Project Planet Love and the Ambassador journey aren’t about changing the whole world.”
“They are about loving our planet by first learning to love and care for ourselves, and then extending that care to those around us. This is Ubuntu: I am because we are, and since we are, I am!”.
“They are about being curious about our connections and recognising that we are all connected in one way or another. That's the Web of Life.”
“And they are about recognising that we don't all have to be the same. Our different strengths, ideas, experiences, and ways of seeing the world can make us stronger when we bring them together.”
“This journey has been about discovering something you care about and recognising that you can do something about it.”
“So our invitation to you is simple: keep going.”
“Keep noticing what you love. Keep caring about what matters to you. Keep using your voice. Keep making choices that reflect the world you want to live in.”
“And when you see something you want to change, remember that you don't always have to wait for someone else to act - start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
“Your Project Planet Love doesn't have to end here. This could just be the beginning.”
Seed Ball Throw | 10 mins (optional if you have time)
If there's a suitable space on school grounds and permission has been granted, conclude the Celebration with a celebratory seed ball throw!
This week we invite you to…
Celebrate your PPL!
Share a photo, video or short message from the Celebration that captures something you're proud of, something that surprised you, or a moment you'll remember.
Upload it to the Community Hub and help us celebrate the Ambassadors' achievements together.
